January 16th photographs -Zagreb to Frankfurt

Look what Charlie spotted today.
He said to his mom that I’d love this!
Laura took the photo but Charlie found the abandoned furniture and he thought of me. A team effort.
I really appreciate the contribution to the blog today cause am feeling a strong lag from the six hour time difference.

Traveling for thirty two hours door to door is not unusual these days. We are grateful to land safely and have all our luggage. Yes, you wish you could be Dorothy and just click your heels and be there without a hassle. One plane’s delay, creates a chain of challenges and snags but you know there’s your pillow waiting for you when you reach home.

Granddaughter Maura texted this photo from
Columbus, Ohio, just last night.

Frozen Wind Cake from Vincek Bakery in Zagreb. Almost every visit I’ve indulged in this treat. The box with six pieces was shared with the family, not just myself.
A Croatian speciality Icy Wind Cake

My 2015 visit photo Frozen Wind/Icy Wind on the left (and a recipe for icy wind cake I found for it online)

Kamenita Vrata “only gates that still exist today. They were built in the 13th century , and got their present form in 1760 . In the passage of the gate, there is a chapel with a picture of the Mother of God of the Stone Gate , the patroness of the city, according to the picture that survived the great fire in 1731 intact”

A little Trappist cheese in the eggs made the breakfast incredibly satisfying. If you’ve been following the blog for a time you’ve seen Mary’s kitchen in NYC
Holiday dining at the finest level.
