I hosted neighborhood Book Club last Thursday. The book was The Friend by Sigrid Nunez and a dog was an important character in the novel. I baked gingerbread bone biscuits. I haven’t rolled out cookies to bake in a dog’s age.

Used a little spoon handle to write into the cookies prior to baking

“The Friend is a novel by the American writer Sigrid Nunez published by Riverhead Books in 2018. The book concerns an unnamed novelist who adopts a Great Dane that belonged to a deceased friend and mentor.”

We waited patiently in line with the drizzle and wind as there were 900 + attendees for the organ concert Friday night.

Organ Artists Series of Pittsburgh and Music at St.Michael the Archangel Parish Mt. Lebanon presented organist

Anna Lapwood MBE (who is Director of Music at Pembroke College (Cambridge)

She spoke about the pieces she was going to play. She played Ave Maria with her feet on the Casavant -Frères, Opus 2641 organ.

Clouds Might Get in Our Way

Pittsburgh is not in the path of totality for the eclipse tomorrow afternoon. All Air Bnbs and hotels in the path are booked according to a post I saw. Traffic is expected to be heavy. Our local weather forecasters are hoping for a break in the cloud cover. It will be another twenty years(Aug 23, 2044) before the next total eclipse.

I’m hoping to observe Bob the Feral Cat and see how he behaves.

Saturday in Toronto. Ohio,

Alicia and I used to work together in the city a decade ago. She invited me to come to knitting group at 11:00 am Saturday. It’s just an hour’s drive to Toronto.

Toronto, Ohio that is.

The makers meet on the first Saturday of the month. We were meeting at Tri B’s Coffee Shop where she put two tables together and everyone was so welcoming. I took my handknit Emotional Support Chicken in a basket. And a pair of socks to knit on as we gathered round. Got to see what everyone was working on- slippers, a Christmas stocking, a hat, a colorful washcloth. A crocheter or two in the crowd.

It was such a happy afternoon. The coffee was delicious, too. Knitting, conversation, inspiration. Thanks for inviting me.
