Art of the Brick Exhibit is Wow!

Art of the Brick Exhibit is just…Wow! Artist Nathan Sawaya’s Work is amazing. I want to go back and take more time looking and thinking about all his creativity that went into making these artworks. And all from regular LEGO pieces.Thousands of them.

One of my favorites (with undulating lights simulating water) was The Swimmer.

Yes, that’s all constructed with LEGO. The piece count is written on each artwork’s label.

Space Station Sighting Sunday Night

You might have to strain your eyes to see it in the photo. The space station sighting on Sunday night. The little white dot to the left,over the neighbors house roof, is the space station. Traveling 4.7 miles per second. Erika’s dad knew what time to see it in the sky, thanks to an app he has.

It tells him where and when to see satellites and such in the night sky. It was really bright. Although it was over Sunset Beach Florida when we saw it, we were standing in Columbus, Ohio.

My iPhone was the camera.

Mother’s Day Greetings

In the ongoing effort of cleaning up the third floor earlier this week, I found a stash of postcards and greeting cards, some handmade by my kids, written or scribbled upon and saved. Saved by me cause I couldn’t bear to pitch them. Even a dot matrix computer printer card, made by the kids for me. A folded page of Murphy the Airedale’s inky footprints before any of the grandkids arrived and then I found a card with the addition of “baby” when Anna was expected.

Numerous photographs, too.

Maura’s Guest Blog

Maura has wanted to be guest blogger for the longest time. Her brother Michael did the honors yesterday. Today, Friday, was her chance.

I handed her the Canon 6D and said “halfway down, then all the way.” Click Click Click. Here we are- We gathered on Laura’s front porch before pulling away from the curb. We almost forgot to snap a picture. Longtime friends mini-reunion in Columbus OH.

Following the bunny trail

Good thing I had a passenger in front seat this morning. I’m calling this post a group guest blog cause it was a team effort!

Maura passed up the good camera from my bag in the back and Anna was able to capture this load of large Easter eggs. Were we ever surprised to be following them down the road!

Fortunately, Anna could get all three eggs as the truck approached the roundabout.

Maura read that they were headed for the Columbus Zoo. And helped me upload the photos from the camera this evening.

No Snow Needed

A brisk sunny March Sunday afternoon in the backyard. James was going work on converting the shed into a gardening greenhouse. The kids had fun playing together. Michael pulled the little blue sled with a delighted Charlie- back and forth, back and forth across the seeded lawn.

Maura climbed around and swung upside down on Charlie’s climbing apparatus. She tried pulling Charlie but too heavy.

Hopscotch

Hopscotch. Laura bought sidewalk chalk and I tried to remember how to draw out the squares. Hopping on one foot was tricky for Charlie. The rock Maura chose to throw into a square rarely stayed in the box on one turn, rolling out into unmarked territory. I remember some hopscotch boards painted on asphalt in elementary school but can’t remember seeing kids using them when I had lunch duty years ago. Four square, yes. Hopscotch , no. Do kids play Hopscotch in 2018?
