Clintonville Blossoms and Bubbles

Strolling with Charles (1) around the neighborhood.

Hot summer sun. The colors so rich and alive.

I appreciate the gardeners’ efforts.

Back at the house on the front porch he said “bubble” and pointed to the chair.Underneath was a red plastic bear with bubble stuff. You had to squeeze the Bear’s stomach and it took awhile for me to get the hang of it.

What’s Eating You?

The lacy leaves in the three photos (above) were not to be eaten….by humans, that is.

And Laura took this last shot (below) on my phone as she was putting James’ lunch salad together.

A cicada, expired.

Don’t think he was the leaf eater though.

Throwback Rhubarb Cake Recipe Success

Guest blogger Kristin used this old recipe from my mother’s recipe box.

I posted about my old Throwback Recipe Blog which I abandoned but 62 El Salvadorians found recently. No one else seems to be able to access it. I was able to screenshot the post of the Rhubarb Cake Recipe. I don’t even know who Beth Boettner is/was.

Rhubarb.  You either love it or not.

I suggested butter for shortening and Kristin doubled the rhubarb to 3 cups  She texted her photos to me.
Here’s the cake! Looks moist.

Here is her husband Rick enjoying the cake.

Verdict? Delicious!

Love the candid.  Thanks Kristin (and Rick)

Would vanilla ice cream or a bit of cream complement the taste?  Hmmmmmm
Here’s the old blog address. Throwback Recipes Blog   Let me know if you can get to it

A Schoolhouse in Scottsbluff Nebraska

Thanks for the beautiful photo, Shuey. (The guest blogger today).

Shuey is headed to Prudhoe Bay Alaska.

On his motorcycle.

Did I mention he started out in Nicevlle Florida?

That’s 4,862.7 miles, I just looked it up.

Happy Birthday Lala

You were one not so long ago.

Now you’re mom to a one year old!

Happy Happy Birthday to you Laura.

You make life nice.

Love,

Your Mom

P.S. Refer to last year’s birthday post to see how time flies.

(It’s something old people say to younger people and then suddenly you experience it.)

Narrow Edge

Narrow: post 2
Wider, thicker, fatter, heavier would be better-it was so good.

Desired characteristics for the narrow ice cream sandwich, not me!

Guess that’s why they keep the amount of ice cream slim.

Narrow Space Between Shadyside Buildings

Weekly photo challenge:narrow

Narrow space between Shadyside Buildings in three different lights

My Friend wrote “I made the papers without dying or getting arrested!”

He got my attention!

(Anyone who knows Bill McCafferty will get it)

He texted me this photo first and wrote-

“Go ahead. Ask me where I got this!”

Our local paper is Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Hmmmm I had no idea, Bill.

Then he sends photo #2.
