Happy Thanksgiving from Hardy Virginia. My son’s mother in law has the pumpkin pies in their new oven and the house smells delicious.
A good day to think about all for which I’m grateful.

The other morning at Bastone Auto. My car’s state inspection was due. I sat in a chair and waited for my ride. I asked where they’d gotten the umbrella stand. Found in someone’s trash!
I’ve never owned an umbrella stand. I rarely use an umbrella . But this one caught my eye.
You might remember the Bastone brothers from my People at Work Series.
May your birthday be the beginning of a super year!

P.S. I’m certain that hat band was blue but the Kodak photograph has changed color
Important to be patient. I’m not.
Melt chocolate slowly on the lowest heat, don’t scorch or burn. Ruin a lovely rich bar. Managed that step but………Oh no.

The cake stuck! Not sufficiently cooled when tried to extricate the cake from the pan. Even with buttered parchment paper.
Cake tester broom below.

Glued together. Frosting saves the day. Butter and chocolate. No one even knows repairs were necessary.
Delicious.

It just takes some getting used to. The new season. It changed this morning. We like the changing seasons, right?
This chilly icy, now tonight, snowy weather.
So hard on the trees, though. The driving.
Getting cozy by adding covers, readying for hibernation, thinking about making pots of chili, soup. Boiling the kettle for tea. Oh yes, keep on knitting a wooly sweater.

Signage in a puddle.
Seen in Ohio a couple of weeks ago.
A very skinny puddle.

I’ve got mail.
The mail carrier brought it today.
Not just catalogs, flyers with pizza coupons and bulk rate circulars. Real mail, not just junk, addressed to me.
What a happy surprise.
Charlie (3) and his mom mailed his preschool photo AND the self-portrait he drew inside the card. ❤️ Thanks Charlie. (and Laura)
