Inniswood Metro Garden

Inniswood Metro Garden is in Westerville Ohio.

It was a beautiful Spring day to explore the park with Laura and Charlie.

Two sisters, Grace and Mary Innis, donated their 37 acre estate and there’s a Sisters’ Garden dedicated to their memory. Either the treehouse or the brick walled Secret Garden might have been Charlie’s favorite place to play.

Bringing Spring into the House

Wintery temps, snowflakes and winds thwarted by a bouquet of Spring tulips from the grocery store.

April Snow in Ohio – Guest Blog

Photo sent to me by my friend Terry on Wednesday April 21st . Taken from her window. We had a dusting of snow and lots of chilly wind in Pittsburgh but here’s what it looked like in Ohio near Akron.

Real Lancashire Eccles cakes at Afternoon Tea

This week I received a package of yarn and goodies from a Woolswap knitter who lives in the UK. Amanda included a tin of Traditional English Tea and a packet of Real Lancashire Eccles Cakes with Real Butter.    She mentioned her husband likes to dip his into his tea. This afternoon I was inspired to make a tea party for one on my front porch. The Eccles cake  was delicious and went perfectly with the English Afternoon Tea. I added a drop of milk. There are three cakes left so three more tea parties on the porch.    Here’s what the bakery says on their website

The Eccles Cake is a traditional product, which is believed to have originated in the town of Eccles, approximately five miles from our bakery.

The Edmonds family recipe and method of manufacture has been handed down through generations. Our Eccles Cakes are handmade and consist of a mixture of the finest Vostizza currants, raisins, butter and sugar enclosed in a shell of flaky buttery pastry.

Redbud in Bloom

Eastern Redbud in bloom at sunset. Planted in my backyard by a friend, as a memorial to my parents.

It was their favorite tree. The blossoms cover the whole of the branches.

April Weather

April first it snowed. There’s been sunshine, rain, blue skies, and fog. It’s been hot, it’s been cold. Windy and still. We’re only two weeks into April. Only thing constant in our weather is change.

Ewe Mail

Today’s mail brought the delivery of a package. Always fun to receive an unexpected gift. If you squeeze the body, you can hear the sheep bleating. You know how I love puppets. He’ll be a great addition to video calls with the grandchildren. Thanks JB for the ewe mail.
