As I folded the pairs, I realized all the hand knit socks I’d made (plus one spring green pair knit my Sabine Bornemann at Die Wollnerin in Berlin) were clean at the same time. It’s the second time I’ve washed all of them since shelter in place started. I read that Sabine’s hand dyed yarn store in Berlin has now reopened, allowing two customers at a time

Lots of places and friends represented by the different yarns from Alaska, Germany, Norway, Arizona, New Zealand, Florida. Can you find the yarn I received for my July 4th birthday? (thanks Joanne). The sock monkey pair? There’s the desert plant dyed yarn and gifts from woolswappers halfway across the globe.

My new method is the hand wash setting on the machine and hung out to air dry in my bathroom. I used to hand wash them and roll in a towel.

On the Hunt for Joy Challenge: Week 10 – Put Your Collections on Display

Cee’s Photography Blog provides good information on the many and varied photo challenges that are out there in the blogging world. Cee inspires many with her beautiful photographs. You might have read one of Cee’s encouraging comments and she always manages to click the like button. too. She is one of the most prolific bloggers I follow.

Yes, I know I missed the first nine weeks of the Hunt for Joy Challenge but week ten collections jumped out at me.

I am all for hunting for joy, too.

Not a Beatrix Potter rabbit but she’s knitting!

Here are some of my rabbits and also some Beatrix Potter Figurines. They’ve been with me for decades. I don’t add to the collection. They sit on a shelf of the lawyer’s bookcase with the glass front down but to take a quick photo of them tonight I lifted the glass. Dusting them might have been a good idea.

Built in 1900 But Looking Brand New

People at Work. Hard work.

NIcholas Karam leads the team at Karam Restoration of Natrona Heights. They can definitely take pride in their excellent work.

You can see from the photo below how bright and clean looking the brick is now that it’s been restored and new mortar has been put in. They are good at Brick Pointing for sure.

They would arrive before the sun was up and worked in cold temperatures, long dark days.

Today they came and took all the equipment and cleaned up the place. Rinsed the brick again. It’s a pleasure to pull up to the house and see it looking rejuvenated. Plus the porch roof won’t fall down from the missing mortar in the columns. I was thinking the house was built in 1920 but went and looked again and it says 1900.

(Now if only my carpenter would finish the wood that needs to be replaced)

Dovecote in Aspinwall on Brilliant Avenue

Dovecote, a vintage boutique in Aspinwall Pennsylvania, located on Brilliant Avenue. What a great address. Brilliant!

My friend Vincie and I were shoe shopping at Soothe the Sole on Brilliant Avenue and Holly (at the shoe store) suggested we check out Dovecote right across the street.

Here’s what we discovered –

The boutique is definitely eclectic and affordably priced. Scroll down for more details. There are vintage items, consignment items, handcrafts, antiques, jewelry, home decor and holiday fun. Sports team theme including black and gold potholders and darling onesies with hand sewn embellishment, adorable ruffles.

The felted Mr. Rogers created by Artist Christine caught my eye, and the Pennsylvania ceramic platter would be cool to serve from at a dinner party.

Chair Pad Adhesive Stuck on Wooden Seat

It’s better than it was.

The cushion’s no slip grip rubber came off and was glued to the wooden seat.

This is a chair we got about eight years ago in an antique store in Columbus. I brought it back to Pittsburgh and it’s looking much better now.

Not finished yet.
