While in the middle of a friend’s photo shoot of vintage clothing, her mother’s long haired dachshund started following my watch reflection and chased it all around. I’ve never seen a dog exhibit this behavior. Trying to capture it was spontaneous and difficult as the watch was on my left wrist and the camera in my right hand. No chance to focus. It was just happening. Stop action seemed the best way to try and show the motion. Min Pin Tigger makes a cameo appearance.Wish I had a real video to show it better.

Pyrex Fruit Bowl Levitation in Afternoon Light
When I get home from school I put the kettle on and make a cup of tea. Or a cuppa as some friends say. Unwind.
And I sit at the kitchen table, wait for the water to boil. I saw the fruit bowl reflected in the diner print.
I am sure it has been there before but today I saw it.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Distorted
Reflection in a spoon was my granddaughter’s (8) idea. She went to the kitchen drawer and pulled out a soup spoon and showed me the distortion. We tried the bottom of a stainless mixing bowl, too. She was at her desk, drawing before bed and we tried the spoon one more time and she rolled her eyes. And since she was upside down I am flipping the picture so you can see. Most weeks I am pulling from the archives but this week’s challenge required a set up shot to respond.

Basketball Fans Reflection in a Glossy Gym Floor
Our friends’ son is a basketball coach for a local high school team and we were invited to see them win the last game of the season last night. I was shooting with a 70-200 lens and not moving around much but as I sat there this reflection caught my eye. At the half I switched sides for a different view from the fans’ perspective but I was glad I’d captured this reflection earlier.
These fans were enthusiastic and moved around a lot but at this moment they were all still.

I drive across bridges at least twice a day. I go to work on the arch green bridge(Birmingham Bridge) and sometimes come home on the yellow bridge(South 10th Street) but this day I crossed the Liberty Bridge.
Pittsburgh: The city of bridges. The change in light, water movement or in this case stillness, is ever changing.
The South Tenth Street is the one that was lit up for the filming of the Tom Cruise movie.
Guest Blogger/Photographer Rob Finds His Own Eye
I received the loveliest email and photo from a family friend in northern Illinois. He graciously consented to be guest blogger today. You might have read his comments on blog posts of mine. He collects MGs and is a certified pie judge. A dear friend. What I always remember is how Rob and his wife Mary drove to Rockford, Illinois for my mother’s funeral service and also came to have lunch in Milwaukee and offer friendship and support when I took Laura to college at Marquette. I love following your blogs and the interesting subjects that you always seem to capture at the right moment. You also inspire me as I sit and think deep thoughts about what is around me and look at things differently. Today I finished up some yard work getting ready for the cold weather that is expected in the near future. The temperature was around 64 degrees and it was a little cloudy. As I sat on the patio enjoying a nice glass of wine, i took out my iphone and captured this photo that just seemed to be something unusual about it. The reflection of the homes on the other side of the lake, the cloudy sky, the metal patio table, the branches of the tree and of course the glass of wine. Do I have an eye or should I go back to go? Big Dog Coffee Shop Reflected in Their Nuova Simonelli Machine
It is a stunning and shining beauty of an Espresso machine, the Nuova Simonelli. And as I stood waiting for my coffee, I noticed the reflection of the chairs and wall. I read that they are getting ready to put up some new art so I caught it on a plain green wall day.
I love that Big Dog Coffee Shop opens at 6 AM. They make authentic conversation with you and never seemed annoyed or put out like a coffee shop I used to go to every morning(and the other place doesn’t open ’til 7AM) . I feel welcomed, appreciated. It’s friendly but not fake. And their coffee is delicious, too. They are on the flats of the South Side and I teach on the slopes. Just right.
Once our book club met in the back room. It’s a welcoming space. Pretty soon they will start using the fireplace, too. I like the oatmeal bar for a splurge some days. Big Dog Coffee is more than just the jolt of morning caffeine. It is a joyful start to the day!

There was a photo in the paper of the laser lights projecting on a downtown building last night. They’re filming BATMAN downtown and there was the Bat Signal. Unfortunately, I did not get down there to capture the scene. So I looked through the recent photos as I wanted to change it up from the themes of late and I always return to the city views. They are so varied.
It’s almost midnight and I am still thinking about the Bat Signal on the Highmark Building and wondering if it is still there. Should I get in the car and drive downtown to see? Christian Bale coming to town, Big News Big Movie. Good for Pittsburgh all around.
