Do you have a doll with crocheted clothes, right on its body?
Marlene’s cousin made many of these bride dolls and I photographed hers when we were in Hardy. Virginia,
There is a 1951 pattern available for $1.49
Would like to make a gallery of vintage crochet dolls and their clothes if you want to share a pic or two.
Joanne, i know you have that poodle! Are people still creating these? Share your photos.
Look what just arrived from Omaha! Joanne sent her Poodle crocheted by Aunt Angie
Seems as if you were just making your entrance at dawn, not so very long ago. I remember going to school after you were born and how excited everyone was for me. I had just gotten my first digital camera so I could take your photo.
Happy 11th Birthday dear Granddaughter Anna Catherine.
Hope you like the photos I selected for your birthday post. Except for the sock monkey and Henry, it is just YOU this year!
How about that? love you, your Grandma, FF Ruthie
Who knew that I must photograph every sign I encounter?
The trick is to cull the signs and show the most interesting.
BUT I am astounded at how I am attracted to them.
As I kept exporting the variety of signs from different locales, I remembered my travels and who I was with and what we were doing.
Just being out and about I see a ton of signs.
I am going to me more mindful of my capturing them and figuring out why I press the shutter button.
Guess I read them and document what I read.
A sampling of signs-

Chinatown New York City
Greenwich Village NYC
Coney Island NY Sign
Brooklyn Botanic Garden

At the Farmer’s Market, I saw bunches of Cosmos and my grandmother Hendricks came to mind.
She used to grow them. I bought a bouquet and put them in a vase.
They just look “old fashioned” to me.
This is the grandmother who taught me to knit. My father’s mother.
When I was at Laura and James house, I took this photo of the tag on the afghan they have in their living room.
Her name was Mary Alta but she went by Alta. I have never met anyone else named Alta.
My appreciation for all things handmade and knit was passed down.
Recently I was led to open the back of her Book of Common Prayer and found this list in her hand.
Here is a list of 26 afghans she knit for others when she was in the Nursing Home in Taylorville Illinois.
I’m Ruthie, Mark is my son and Marian is my Mother and “Roy’s Mary” is my sister.
My sister-in-law Bobbie, sent this afghan below (one my grandmother made) to Laura and James. An heirloom gift
The blue one is the one she made for me. Her knitting is just beautiful.
I was headed home after stopping at East Liberty Farmer’s Market.
Someone is getting the word out in a unique way.
I saw the VOTE yarn bomb sign a few days ago but then today the BIKE sign was covering it up.
Couldn’t the bikers have moved their sign up a bit higher so the yarn bomb wasn’t covered?
I got out of my car and lifted up the BIKE sign to get the picture.
I saw a couple of Yarn Bomb VOTE signs in Bloomfield, too. Today was the deadline to register.
The tag’s website read Pole2Polls.
It certainly caught my attention.
(And the Weekly Photo Challenge is SIGNS)
Highland Park at Highland Avenue and Stanton Ave.
The four grandchildren were here since Thursday night and their mom and dad went to a wedding in Philly this weekend.
We had a nice time together and the house is feeling pretty empty now.
Today they watched Steve remove a dead squirrel out of the fireplace and take it outside. Michael said, “You’ve got an animal in your fire pit.”
Thank goodness for the glass doors. Guess that screen on top of the chimney came off!
Last night they all fell asleep in one bed watching Cheaper by the Dozen.
We went to Shadyside to the old Toy Store where their Dad used to shop with his brother and sister.
Fun at the Super Playground in Highland Park
A little posing in front of the house. Jackets and sweatshirts necessary.
Missing all the fun you bring to me. Hope you’ll plan a return visit soon.
Love you.

Steve and I took the grandchildren to Harmarville to BOWL on Saturday afternoon. Just looked up the history of bowling and never knew the Ancient Egyptians bowled.
The lanes we bowled in felt pretty wild.
Michael and Maura put their hands over their ears for some of the rocking video tunes
Music videos are projected on screens over the lanes and spots of disco lights all colors, swirl and flash.
A total sensory experience. Stimulating, for sure. (Perhaps overly so)
Even the size numbers glowed on the back of the shoes and the bowling balls seemed to glow.
Three out of our six bowlers were left handers! I think it is a lot harder than it looks. All in all we had a fun time.
(Photo lightened a tad so you could see their faces)
Steve, originally from the Akron Ohio area, is a natural bowler. 🙂
