Wedding Soup Supper by Candlelight

Steve brought home Maria Merante’s Wedding Soup and it was so good on a dark night.

I lit a candle to counteract the early sunset before 5 pm.

Food Delivery Robots Meet at OSU Walkway

I didnt know what they were but I pulled over to the curb, pushed the flashers on and put on the brake. It was fun to photograph them. I’d just left the swim meet. These wheeled creatures were on their own power. I knew it was some sort of robot. I looked them up with a Google photo search and here’s the article My first pic is out of focus. I watched it turn down the path and roll along.

What Steve Put on the Mantel in Front of Still Life

Blog Post from 12/20/2009 14 years ago

Deborah McLaren’s still life pis one I purchased at the PERSAD Celebrate Life Celebrate Art auction at the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh last May. The other day I sat at the table, looked up and saw Steve’s additions to the decor. He has been purchasing RITZ crackers frequently since I bought the painting, subliminal influence? I wrote to the artist for her permission to post the image of her painting along with his props. Steve’s fun additions- the unexpected sight of them in front of the still life- I laughed out loud! How to make life fun!

A Wreath on the Floor

Where did putting a wreath on the door originate?

This wreath holder didn’t hold up

Christmas wreaths are packed with tradition and symbolism. Wreaths have been used as an embellished sign of Christmas for hundreds of years. Interestingly, the origin of the wreath story is pretty layered. The holiday wreath has its roots in several different religions and cultures, as with most cultural relics. Others, however, link the tradition of evergreen branches back to Christianity. The practice of displaying a wreath on your front door is now a universally recognised Christmas custom that brings warmth to our hearts.”

Love it or not?

I’ve asked before. It’s seasonal, for sure. Fruitcake reveal today. It’s the best fruitcake. Baked by Linda. It’s the absolute best, ever. I’m serious. What a lot of work. Shipped from Massachusetts. I took it out today to take in the fragrance. I had told my sister I’d wait to eat it when she came. But that’s next week. I had to see it, smell it and yes I cut a sliver. Delicious.fruitcake.

For some people Fruitcake is like kryptonite is to Superman. What’s it for you?

The Gift of Baking

“In French, Sablé means Sandy (just like the classic shortcrust pastry “Pâte Sablée“) and Breton refers to Bretagne region. So they literally mean Sandy Cookies from Brittany! They are often just called “sablés cookies” in France.” Click link for recipe

Merci , Roberta.

They were delicious.
