Yesterday, March 19th, was St.Joseph Day. My sister bought two special pastries at Pasticerria Rocco on Bleecker Street. On the left is Sfingi On the right is Zeppole, baked to honor the occasion. “St. Joseph’s Pastries or Zeppole di San Giuseppe are traditional cream filled pastries from Campagna region of Italy.” -Click for recipe from Italian Recipe Book.
Nine years ago I photographed Carmela at La Tavola in Pittsburgh. These are all the breads she baked for St. Joseph Day. Here’s that post
My mother in the hat on the the left with her brothers John on right and Robert in the middle.
. Durand Illinois. From my grandmothers album.
“Yinz is a second-personplural pronoun used mainly in Western Pennsylvania English, most prominently in Pittsburgh…..”
Eleven degrees in Kennebunk, Maine. Cold!
This series of photos of a persistent seagull pecking on my friend Carrie’s car hood arrived in my messages tonight.
Thanks for sending these shots.
I asked if he did any damage to the hood
Carrie says,
”Oh, I didn’t look. Don’t think so. I finally put it in drive and went forward. He stayed on. So I put it in reverse. He still stayed on. Then I backed up and turned to get him off. The little guy was enjoying the ride.”
Most people who follow the blog know I like to knit. A lot!
I joined Woolswap in 2018. Gayle Stone, of Australia, created the international program in 2016. I have “met” the loveliest woolswappers in many different counties by participating in the program. Gayle does a great job matching up fellow knitters with similar interests.
This evening Gayle filmed our Woolswap Chat -an interview filmed at McWalker Yarns in Millvale Pennsylvania. It’s about 40 minutes long. You can click the link to view if you wish.
Here’s a quick pic of Gayle in Brisbane and me in Millvale at the yarn store. Thanks Amy and Gayle.
You can book a Goat with a Note video or a 5 minute call from the Live goat Cam during your video call or Zoom meeting.
The goats live at CronkshawFold Farm in Lancashire, United Kingdom.
The bookings help support their farm. I hear there will be baby goats soon.
I booked the live goat for a McWalker Yarns Knitting Zoom and ordered a goat video for a Happy Hour, due to time zones and availability.
It was a lot of fun and everyone got a kick out of the goats appearance.
You’ve seen my posts of Recliners in the Rain or Whose Chair? And maybe read my 2017 piece on Guaranteed Distraction of Unexpected Garbage. Remember the Pink Toilet Waiting in the Snow? (From 11 years ago? )
If you’ve followed the blog for a time, you’ll recognize the theme. There have been some fine items waiting for pick up I couldn’t photograph and had to drive on by. This one I captured by actually getting out of the car instead of pulling over and taking it from the driver’s window.
Wednesday night’s trash awaiting pickup was a real find. Perhaps it felt extra sweet cause I haven’t been out and about this past year so no new discards could be found.
