Macarons
Almost everyone’s crazy for Macarons these days. What’s all the fuss about?
Macaron stores popping up in NYC every few blocks. And in Pittsburgh!
They’re everywhere. “meringue- like almond cookies” says Jean- Marc Chatellier’s website
And they’re gluten-free.
Have you made them yourself yet? Most people don’t, but buy them at the bakery.
Preferably an excellent French bakery. In France.
I’ll skip the peanut butter and jelly flavor, though.
I was knitting at a friend’s for tea and she had a lovely sleeve of multi- flavors and colors including a lavender, a lemon and a salty caramel. (See the red box!)
My favorites are still Jean-Marc Chatellier in Millvale, PA, across the Allegheny River.
I read David Lebovitz- Living the Sweet Life in Paris blog I Love Macarons with terrific photographs and a multitude of links for more info on macarons you ever thought possible….and if you want to try making his French Chocolat Macarons click here for directions and recipe

A Stack of Ironed Napkins at the Ready for Dinner Guests
You just never know when you’ll be glad you took the time to iron a stack of dinner napkins
I like to iron napkins and handkerchiefs. Don’t do it very often
but I remember my mother had a bottle of water to sprinkle the wrinkled cloths to get a nice smooth finish. Nothing like a freshly ironed pillowcase either.

None of these are stellar shots, but the collection of random sampling – what I see when I drive around the different parts of the city, makes for an interesting hodge podge.
What do you see where you live that catches your eye today?
Chocolate Covered Bacon
I happened to be at the Milk Shake Factory on Carson Street last Wednesday. Did I mention that they have Happy Hour and all Milkshakes are half off fro 4-6 PM? You might remember the post I did of the place.
It’s right down the street from the Post Office where I had to mail a couple of packages.
Anyway, the chocolate covered bacon, by Edward Marc Chocolatier, was looking at me.
There are eyes on it, aren’t there?
Once my friend R brought some over to the house but I can’t remember how it tasted except I know how bacon tastes and I know how chocolate tastes but can’t remember the combo.
Didin’t buy any , just got a half price milkshake, but caught a shot of it with the phone and wondered who got the idea to dip bacon in chocolate.
There are recipes for chocolate covered bacon all over the internet ( I just checked) and it says that it is a popular dish at state fairs.

Homecoming Heels Study
Atop the closed bleachers. In a darkened gym
On the table amidst the plates that held the pizza.
I was taking a shot and then the cell phone lit up with a text. As if responding to the lens…..
Killer shoes. No kidding.
So many of them taken off and placed high on top of the bleacher ledge.
and without the flash
