It’s a card from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

My friend had it on her dining room table and it caught my eye so I photographed it to share the message.
It spoke to me.

Today’s post is from nine years ago-
“Photo from the archives. V suggested posting an occasional favorite photograph from before I started the blog. She requested this one.”
Anna, Erika and Michael walking in the apple orchard. Jack was home napping with Mark. Maura was born Nov 2008 the month after this photo was taken

My son Mark, (uncle to Charlie) on the left holding his brother Matthew, Philadelphia Christmas 1980.
My grandson Charlie on the right, holding “Henny” Pittsburgh, January 2019.
(Yes, the couch used to be jewel red)
The brand of shirt was Health-Tex and I’d say it held up quite well. Who knows why I saved it.

I needed new slippers. For a long time. I finally got a pair. AND I need to discard the old ones.
The old pair had gotten ratty and ripped in spots, but well broken-in and comfortable, even though the soles cracked off over a year ago.
The new ones are so clean – they need to be broken in, I guess.
I’m looking longingly at the old ones. Surely they’ve some wear in them left……?
Just throw them out already, right?
Did you ever struggle with discarding something you’ve had a long time?

The three kings made it to the manger at my friends’ home. The Christmas/Epiphany spirit was still in full celebration this morning. What a lovely spread. I had coffee and cookies with milk poured from a cute cow pitcher. We caught up on our latest family adventures and remarked how quickly the grandchildren are growing.
It’s always good to enter a place where you are loved. Take time to connect with positive and kind friends.

Looks like I’m having coffee all by myself and now realize I should have made sure another cup was in view. This pic doesn’t tell the whole story.
The monitor inscribed with the claim Low Radiation! Hope so. This looks like it has had some serious usage.
Found on the sidewalk as I parked my car Saturday morning.
Do you have one of these in the basement or the back of a closet? Or maybe you have a printer that no longer prints?
An old HP Pavilion model, not sure the year

It’s been a lot of activity this weekend.
Charlie enjoyed seeing the Destination Moon exhibit at the Heinz History Center. His second visit.

We went home for lunch and later in the afternoon we went to Phipps Conservatory where he drove a cab in Cuba. He told us to not stand in front of the car while he’s driving.

Sunday it was dinosaurs at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History

And the sun came out today, shining on the Cathedral of Learning at Pitt
Laura and Charlie are in from Ohio so we returned to see the Destination Moon Exhibit at the Heinz History Center. Charlie ( 3 1/2) loves all things SPACE.
Today I captured them from the other side of the hatch, looking though. Of course it is protected under glass/plexiglass.

You can see the other side of the hatch here

After we viewed the amazing paper costume sculptures of the Isabell de Borchgrave; Fashioning Art from Paper exhibit, we ate at the Café at the Frick. Mary and I ordered the Creme Brûlée which was rich and delicious. The dessert menu credited Pastry Chef Chase Goumas. We didn’t eat the pretty flower garnish but Mary arranged them on the table and I photographed them with my phone.
The title of today’s post comes from a conversation I had with one of the guards in the gallery. He has seen two women lie down on the museum floor to look up the dresses ( he thought they had fainted), two men blow on the hanging costumes to get them to move (saliva included) and a 5 or 6 year old ran into the Queen Elizabeth gown the other day. Today I saw a woman reach to touch the gossamer lace on a collar. It’s hard to fathom that the gorgeous costumes/sculptures are made entirely of paper but they are.
Today at the Frick Art Museum we viewed the exhibition of Isabelle de Borchgrave : Fashioning Art from Paper
