Giant Golden Ginkgo
Not quite alliteration with the “g” but this is one majestic tree in Highland Park, Pittsburgh PA.
Ginkgo has several spellings and there are male and female trees. The golden fan leaves make it one of the prettiest trees in autumn.

Red Currants and Red Raspberries their specialty, not to mention the gooseberries to make jam. Raspberry pies, and free raspberry sundaes. We roasted hot dogs over a fire, and marshmallows to make s’mores.
Autumn color in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania is hard to beat. The barn was filled with the smell of apples.

When one of the grandkids sees something when they’re out and about and thinks-
“oooh, a good one for Grandma’s Blog”, takes a picture to send to me, I like to share it.
Good to encourage their “seeing”.
I told Anna I’ll help her start a blog of her very own. I think she has a great eye. She could start once a week, not daily.
Two years ago Anna took the photo of the pick up truck filled with mannequin legs, headed “to the dummy store.”

Single Ear of Sweet Corn
You can still get great tomatoes. Come January we’ll long for them.
I was at a friend’s house and she made corn for us.
Butter, salt and fresh black pepper.
I think it was the first ear of corn I ate all summer.
Delicious.
Had a half of an ear last Sunday at a Garden Party, but
will savor this photo come fall.

Spring in Autumn
After school, I was knitting at Ann’s again.
Her hydrangeas contrast with the turned leaves caught my eye as I left to go to my car. A balmy temperature and a gorgeous Autumn light. Unseasonably warm November afternoon.
Waiting for Spring
The Spring Equinox is March 20 at 7:02 AM. Just THREE weeks to go. I checked the Old Farmer’s Almanac for the official word.
In another 5 weeks, it’ll look like this in our part of the country….I have to keep it in mind.
Blossoms and green grass, bulbs shooting up through the earth. The RedBud will bloom.
Three weeks ’til Official Spring. This photo was taken two years ago the first week of April.
March is Friday. I think I have it calculated right.
